FAQs

::Tab 2 Content::

Q: What are outside water and sewer lines?

A: The outside water service line is the supply line that runs from the utility water main to the point the line enters your home at the foundation. The outside sewer service line connects from the point the line exits your home at the foundation to the utility sewer main. Homeowners are typically responsible for maintenance and repair of these water and sewer service lines that run through their property.

Q: Who is eligible for the Preferred Outside Water Line Protection and Outside Sewer Line Protection Plan*?

A: Any residential homeowner who is responsible for the water and sewer service lines attached to their home.

Q: Doesn't my homeowners insurance cover this?

A: Standard homeowners insurance policies may not cover these service lines due to normal wear and tear. Your own homeowners insurance may vary.

Q: I have a water well on my property. Is that covered?

A: No. Wells are not covered, but lines to the well will be.

Q: Would the septic tank at my home be protected?

A: The outdoor line to the tank is covered by the plan, but the tank itself is not.

Q: Do you reimburse for damage to landscaping that may occur due to the service line repair work that may be required?

A: Yes. We will reimburse up to $500 for professional landscape costs needed due to a covered repair.

Q: Will a water line break or sewer issue inside of my home be covered?

A: Not by the Preferred Outside Water Line Protection plan, but we do offer plumbing protection plans to cover leaks and breaks to the water and drain lines inside the home. Those are available for purchase separately.

Q: How soon can I use the service?

A: Your enrollment begins the day your application is processed. Your protection and ability to make a claim begin 30 days after your enrollment begins. Please note that pre-existing conditions are not covered.

Q: Is there a service fee or trip charge for someone to come to my home if I make a claim?

A: No. There are no service fees, trip charges or deductibles with this plan.

Q: Are outside water faucets covered?

A: Outside water faucets or spigots are not covered with this plan.
